Underground parking lot (S5) below Pavilion K at the Jewish General Hospital is getting a makeover!

Starting Tuesday, October 11, the Technical Services team will begin a major project to refurbish the pavement of the underground parking lot on level S5 below Pavilion K at the Jewish General Hospital. This work is being performed similarly to what was done this past June on level S6.

For approximately ten weeks, level S5 and the ramps between levels S4, S5 and S6 will be partially closed, depending on how the work is proceeding. Parking agents and signs will be in place to help with traffic flow on S5 and near the ramp where one lane of traffic will be always available. Drivers are asked to be patient and follow the parking officers' safety instructions.

As was the case in June, this work will include removal of the old surface and installation of a new one on S5, as well as installation of new speed bumps.

As soon as all of the parking spots are occupied, the entrance to the parking lot on Bourret Avenue will be closed. Security staff will direct vehicles to temporary lots. Patients, family members, visitors, people with reduced mobility, employees (on both the day and night shifts) and others will be able to use the following:

  • the general parking lot, accessible from Lavoie Street and Côte-Sainte-Catherine Road
  • the parking lot of Pavilion B, accessible from Côte-Sainte-Catherine Road
  • the parking lots of Pavilions A and H, accessible from Côte-des-Neiges Road
  • the contractors’ parking lot behind Pavilion A, accessible from Côte-des-Neiges Road

Parking attendants and signs will help to direct users to the lots listed above. Attendants will also be on hand to assist users with parking and to offer valet parking at no extra charge. Users will be able to pay their parking fee at the pay-and-display machines in the various lots. The attendants will also answer questions and assist users as needed.

In addition, the underground parking lot will be closed at night. Any employees who are affected will have to leave their cars in the general lot while this project is under way.

Once users have parked in the general lot, they will have to walk to the hospital. Thus, it may take longer than usual to get to an appointment or to work. Please budget your time accordingly. To assist those with reduced mobility, four parking spots will be reserved in the lots of Pavilions A and B, and will be supervised by attendants.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during construction.
