Volunteer opportunities

  • Homecare Support Services are provided to CLSC René-Cassin and CLSC de Benny Farm clients living in Côte St-Luc, Notre-dame-de-Grace, Montreal-West, Hampstead, and Snowdon West. The volunteer program is designed to support adults with loss of mobility and at higher risk of social isolation by offering support and companionship on a regular basis. Volunteers can offerscheduled home visits, assistance with grocery shopping, social activities, meal preparation, exercise walks and outings. Languages required; English, French or third language is needed.
     
  • Palliative Care Support Services are provided to CLSC René-Cassin and CLSC de Benny Farm clients living in Côte St-Luc, Notre-dame-de-Grace, Montreal-West, Hampstead, and Snowdon West. The volunteer program is designed to support adults facing life threatening illness by offering support and companionship on a regular basis. Volunteers can offerscheduled home visits, assistance with grocery shopping, social activities, meal preparation, exercise walks and outings. The CLSC offers mandatory training workshops. Languages required:English, French or third language is needed.
     
  • Monthly Group Grocery Program: Volunteers assist and accompany a group of seniors with reduced mobility to shop for monthly groceries at a local grocery store in N.D.G. The program runs every first Tuesday of the month. Volunteers can assist with handling of heavier grocery items, assisting with reading labels and selection of produce, packaging bags, and socializing with the shopper.
     
  • Homecare Transport Services are provided to CLSC René-Cassin and CLSC de Benny Farm clientsliving in Côte St-Luc, Hampstead, Montreal-West, Hampstead and Snowdon West. The volunteer program is designed to support adults with loss of mobility, with limited financial resources, and without family or friends that can provide this medical accompaniment. Volunteers can offer this service by accompanying someone through a public or private adapted transport service paid for by the client or offer to use their vehicle to accompany clients foroccasional medical appointments at local health institutions and to surrounding areas. Volunteers can also offer a one way transport.
     
  • Medical Clinic: Volunteers act as greeters to the public accessing the medical clinic of the CLSC René-Cassin. Volunteers should be at ease speaking English and French to welcome and communicate with the clinic patients and staff.Volunteers must be available for morning shifts from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
     
  • Flu Clinic: Volunteers greet and direct clients who come for their flu shots at the CLSC René-Cassin or in local community settings. The flu clinics are typically held from November to January.Languages required: English and French speaking.
     
  • Administrative Work: Volunteers help with the operation of the volunteer office. They assist with office tasks such as data entry, file management, phone calls, and mailings. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is a prerequisite. Volunteers are required to have strong oral and written skills in both English and French.Other assignments can include coordination of special projects, volunteer meetings, training, fundraising, volunteer recruitment and screening.
