Harmonized and simplified process for death certificates (SP-3)

To all CIUSSS clinicians: 

At the request of the MSSS, all CISSS’s and CIUSSS’s in Quebec must review the way they manage death certificates (SP-3). The launch of the Système d’information des événements démographiques (SIED) will simplify this process by replacing the paper version of the death certificate with a digital equivalent that will be the same as the paper version. 

Another objective of the SIED is to improve and accelerate the processing of demographic events by the Institut de la statistique du Québec. It will optimize existing processes, while consolidating and standardizing the provincial database.  

You will be able to connect to the SIED via sied.msss.gouv.qc.ca. By selecting Connexion avec un compte Outlook du SSSS, you will be able to complete a death declaration at any location. The link will also be bookmarked in Google Chrome and Edge. 

The online death declaration will take effect on June 7 throughout Quebec. However, several steps must still be taken to meet the deadline that the MSSS has set. Users of the SIED will be notified about the project’s progress by email or in The Bulletin, which is sent to staff. A committee of super-users and pilots has also been created to support you in the coming weeks.
