ABCdaire

A useful tool to monitor children's health and development

What is the ABCdaire?

The ABCdaire is an evaluation tool/questionnaire used by nurses who are specially trained to assess a child's overall health, growth, and development. This is a standardized evaluation tool used across the province.

The ABCdaire helps ensure the close monitoring of a child’s health and development. It also enables collaboration between doctors and nurses to ensure that children receive continuous and appropriate care as they grow.

The ABCdaire at CIUSSS West-Central Montreal

As of October 6, 2025, the ABCdaire will be offered by our nurse clinicians during vaccination appointments.

This service is offered to all children receiving vaccines at 2 months and 18 months old, as well as to children without a family doctor at the ages of 4 months, 6 months (no vaccine), and 12 months.

If the child has a family doctor, vaccination will be provided by one of our nurses at their CLSC, but developmental follow-up will be done by the doctor. We encourage you to contact them to schedule an appointment.

Appointments which include the ABCdaire assessment and vaccination will last one hour.

Vaccination appointments without an ABCDaire assessment will be 15 minutes long. We ask that you arrive for your appointment on time.

Scheduling an appointment

Appointments for ABCdaire check-ups and vaccinations can be made online through  Clic Santé, or by calling 514-734-9911.
