Teaching resilience

Tips on how to teach resilience

The following documentation and tools offer strategies co-developed by our CIUSSS’ teaching supervisors and guest experts in stress management:  Alexandra J. Fiocco, Ph.D. from X (Ryerson) University and  Catherine Lord, Ph.D. from  Immerscience. Together they have created a set of bilingual material in various formats to support you in building resilience.

Tools at your disposal...

  • A fillable workbook on stress and coping strategies. It contains fillable tables to be used individually or in teams. ( PDF,  Word)
    • S.T.U.N. tables to recognize personal stress ingredients as stress is in the eye of the beholder. A daily tool. (PDF compressed, Word compressed)
    • Coping strategies and “bons coups” (kudos) tables to take the time to pause and reflect on difficulties, as well as ways to adapt to them. For a team sharing an activity or as a guided personal reflection. (PDF compressed, Word compressed)
    • references and resource list on stress management and resilience ( PDF Word)
  • A Resilience Cheat Sheet  -  downloadable pdf (to be used during training on resilience/stress or also to be pinned in common spaces or to be emailed)

REMINDER: Stress is relative. We do not experience stress for the same reasons or in the same way. In addition, we also have various ways to adapt and cope.
