Consulting a doctor without an appointment

Discover various ways to find a doctor without an appointment in your area

You can call Info-Santé 811 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for any questions or concerns related to your health or that of a loved one.  Nurses can advise you and direct you to the appropriate type of service you need.

Calling Info-Santé 8-1-1 often helps avoid unnecessary visits to a medical clinic or emergency room.

If you need to see your family doctor:

Contact the clinic where you usually see your doctor to find out if medical consultations are offered that day or the next day. If your doctor is not available, the clinic may offer you to consult another doctor, a nurse or a health care professionnal within the clinic. Your family doctor will then have access to evaluations and analyzes requested in his absence.

If you do not have a family doctor or if your clinic is closed:

The super-clinics (GMF-Réseau) offer walk-in medical consultations 12 hours a day, seven days a week. They also offer easy access to a test centre and radiology services.

* If you don’t have a valid Medicare card (or if you are covered by the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP), you must first go to the Admissions Office of the Jewish General Hospital (room B-114), before going to the Herzl Walk-in Center, to open a file and have your medical coverage validated.

All of the above clinics accept the Québec Health Insurance (Medicare) Card and the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP).

ATTENTION: Due to the current situation, please note that medical clinics, including Family Medicine Groups (FMG), will not see patients for assessments on their premises. All medical assessments must be done via telemedicine.

The number of walk-in consultations offered each day is limited. It is recommended that you call before going to the clinic to confirm ifwhether consultations slots are available and find out how to get a medical appointment (in person, by phone or online).

You can also check the availability of telemedicine appointments in a clinic near you on the  RVSQ site.

If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, please call 514-734-9911 (7 days a week, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) or Info-Santé, at 811 (7 days a week, 24/7). Your will be referred to a screening clinic near your home.
