Vaccination is the best way to protect against shingles and its complications.

Shingles is caused by a reactivation of the chickenpox virus. It can occur at any age, but is likelier in people over 50.

  • The shingles vaccine is available free of charge to people 80 and older. They can get vaccinated regardless of their history of chicken pox or prior vaccination with the live active shingles vaccine.
  • The shingles vaccine is available free of charge to people 18 and older who are immuno-compromised. They can get vaccinated regardless of their history of chicken pox or prior vaccination with the live active shingles vaccine.

  • Décarie Square vaccination clinic – 6900 Décarie Boulevard
  • Parc-Extension vaccination site – 7101 Parc Avenue
