After a heart attack or heart surgery, the body needs time to adjust and heal. The CIUSSS Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre helps guide patients through recovery and assists them in preventing future attacks. Participation in a cardiac rehabilitation program has been shown to reduce the risk of another cardiac event by at least 25%.
The multidisciplinary team in this Centre also assists participants with integrating regular physical activity into their lifestyle, the return to work, engaging in healthy eating habits with the help of a dietician, smoking cessation, managing stress and anxiety, and understanding the medications they take.
